About

My name is Julia Mason and I’m a PhD student at Stanford University’s Hopkins Marine Station. I study marine conservation biology with Larry Crowder, and am interested in coming up with a one-sentence definition of my research interests. This blog will chronicle my research, general PhD experience, and the scientific or conservation related topics on my mind, including science communication, the role of oceans and fisheries in food security in developing countries, and the social impacts of conservation policies.
